Swedish Meatball Sliders

A kid-approved fika snack or dinner-party delight—Scandi comfort in every bite. Makes 8–10 sliders.

Instructions

Make the Meatballs:

  1. In a bowl, mix ground meat, egg, yogurt, breadcrumbs, onion, allspice, and seasonings until just combined.
  2. Roll into 1½-inch balls. Heat oil in a skillet and brown meatballs on all sides. Cover and cook until fully done (about 8–10 min).
  3. Prepare the Sauce (Optional):
  4. In the same pan, melt butter, stir in flour to form a roux. Slowly whisk in broth and simmer. Add Skyr and stir until smooth.

Assemble the Sliders:

  1. Slice buns in half. Spread a small amount of lingonberry jam on the bottom half. Add a meatball (and a spoon of sauce, if using).
  2. Top with greens or cucumber and finish with bun top.

Serve Warm:

  1. Skewer with a toothpick for easy handling and serve on a wooden board or lunch tray.
