  2. eggs
  3. sugar + honey
  4. milk
  5. melted butter
  6. vanilla
  7. cardamom
  8. cinnamon

  10. lemon juice

Assemble

  1. In a large bowl combine:

  3. pineapple
  4. Pour custard over and gently mix.
  5. Let sit 10 minutes so bread absorbs liquid.

Add topping

  1. Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle evenly over casserole.

Bake

  1. Bake 35–40 minutes until:
  2. golden on top
  3. set but slightly soft in center

Finish (Swede Dish touch)

  1. Brush lightly with warm honey butter and finish with:
  2. lemon zest
  3. pinch flaky salt

Note

Swede Dish Chef Notes

• Texture goal: soft inside, lightly crisp top — like a savory-sweet stuffing meets bread pudding
• Cardamom makes it feel Nordic instead of Southern
• Lemon keeps it bright (very important with ham or lamb pairing)
