This rich, aromatic stuffing brings together classic American holiday flavors and Nordic brightness. Ingredients
    Bread Base
  • 10 cups cubed bread (sourdough, country loaf, OR half rye/half white for a Swedish note)
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil or butter (for toasting, optional)
    • Sausage & Veg
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, removed from casings
  • 8 oz mushrooms, chopped (portabella or baby bella)
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 1 large apple, diced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp white pepper (Nordic signature)
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1-2 tsp dried sage (or 1 Tbsp fresh)
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Pinch of allspice or nutmeg (Optional: Swedish baking warmth)

  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • 2 Tbsp 2–3 cloudberry jam (or sub lingonberry if needed)

  • 1¾ -2 cups chicken or vegetable stock
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • ¼ cup cream for a richer American texture (optional)
Instructions

    In a large skillet, brown Italian sausage over medium heat.

    Remove and set aside, leaving drippings in pan.

    In sausage fat, sauté mushrooms until browned.

    Add onion + celery; cook 5–7 minutes until softened.
