Description

Charred Flatbread Swords recipe for a fun, themed addition to any seasonal fika board, kids’ party, or Game of Thrones-style feast. A savory, crunchy snack that’s equal parts whimsical and satisfying.

Ingredients

For the Flatbread Swords

4 large Nordic-style flatbreads or thin crispbreads (store-bought or homemade)
Olive oil or melted butter (optional for brushing)
Sea salt, caraway seeds, or dried herbs (optional for topping)

For Dipping (Choose One or Both!)

Whipped Herbed Butter
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 Tbsp chopped parsley or dill
Pinch of salt and lemon zest
Lingonberry Cream Cheese Spread
4 oz cream cheese (or Skyr)
1½ Tbsp lingonberry jam
Optional: pinch of cinnamon or cardamom

Instructions

1. Shape the Swords

Using kitchen scissors or a sharp knife, cut flatbreads into long sword shapes—wide at the base with a tapering point. Be playful!

2. Optional Toppings

Lightly brush with olive oil or butter and sprinkle with sea salt, herbs, or caraway for extra flavor.

3. Char the Edges

Heat a dry cast-iron pan or place swords directly on a hot oven rack (400°F) for 2–4 minutes until edges are crisped and slightly blackened.

4. Make the Dips

For herbed butter: whip ingredients together until fluffy

For lingonberry spread: stir until smooth and marbled
