1. Prep

  1. Preheat oven per box instructions. Grease an 8x8 pan or a small cast-iron skillet for extra cozy edges.

2. Mix

  1. In a bowl, prepare the cornbread batter according to package directions, subbing apple cider for the liquid.

Fold in:

  1. Diced apples
  2. Cinnamon + cardamom
  3. Optional butter and maple syrup
  4. Do not overmix—gentle folds keep it tender.

3. Bake

  1. Pour into prepared pan and bake according to package timing, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Let cool slightly (about 10 minutes).
  3. Butter-Cardamom Glaze
  4. Melt butter gently (microwave or small saucepan).
  5. Whisk in powdered sugar, cardamom, salt, and apple cider until smooth and pourable.
  6. Drizzle generously over warm cornbread so it melts into the top.
