Coffee-Forward Eggnog (Iva’s Nightcap)

Difficulty: Beginner
A bold, espresso-kissed nod to lingering conversations after dinner.

Coffee-Forward Eggnog (Iva’s Nightcap)

Difficulty: Beginner

Description

This coffee-forward eggnog is rich, aromatic, and quietly indulgent — the kind of drink poured once dishes are cleared and stories start to stretch longer. Espresso deepens the classic eggnog base without overpowering it, creating a smooth, grown-up nightcap inspired by Grandma Iva’s love of good coffee, good company, and unhurried evenings during the holidays.

Instructions

  1. In a pitcher or mixing bowl, whisk together the eggnog, cooled coffee or espresso, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. Serve cold in small glasses, finished with freshly grated nutmeg on top.

Note

Make-Ahead Notes

  • Can be prepared 1–2 days in advance and stored covered in the refrigerator.
  • Stir gently before serving.
  • For a warmer version, gently heat on the stovetop over low heat — do not boil.

Serving Notes

  • Perfect after the Julbord when dessert has shifted to cookies and coffee.
  • Pairs beautifully with chocolate spritz cookies, pepparkakor, or quiet fireside conversations.
  • Serve in small cups — this one is meant to be savored.
